Mark Roach gains business through attendance at the weekly Business Breakfast
A group of more than 30 business people in Berkshire meet for breakfast on Thursday mornings at the Bird in Hand on the A4 at Knowl Hill, near Twyford.
As Radio Bracknell’s John Hicks mentioned on this week’s edition of The Sunday Show, the full English breakfast on offer is not the main reason why so many people attend on a regular basis. Visitors are always made very welcome at the meetings and often pick up new business very quickly.
Mark Roach, who owns Twyford-based PR agency Mark Roach Public Relations, said:
“I regularly pick up new business at the meetings. There were 35 people at last week’s meeting and more than 50 referrals were generated.
“The group is very friendly and the meetings are always enjoyable – and the breakfast is very good. But the main reason everyone attends the meetings is because the focus is on generating new business. It is a highly effective way to find new business, especially in the current economic climate.”
Mark added: “We have a diverse range of people who attend the meetings, from gardeners, electricians and builders to solicitors, accountants and financial advisers. We even have a magician who comes to the meetings”.
The meetings start at 7.00am and finish at 8.30am. Visitors pay a £10 meeting fee which includes a full English breakfast. At the meetings, all visitors have an opportunity to talk about their business for one minute.
“What works really well is that you are not just trying to sell your service to the people in the room. You ask if anyone in the room knows anyone who could use your service, and that is one of the main ways that everyone is generating a lot of business”.
